Ifestia Festival (meaning in Greek "The volcano festival") takes place in Mid August for 2-3 days and is organized by the Municipality of Thira. This event includes figurative volcano explosions with fireworks, traditional music and dancing, local custom reproductions, food and other special shows.

The volcano of Santorini created the unique and inspiring landscape found on Santorini, and played a huge role in the history of the Aegean. The Ifestia Festival will involve a magical firework display which is intended to resemble the volcano's eruption. There will also be musical and culutral events taking place over the island to commemorate the event.
