La Feria de Abril is a wonderful, local annual event that takes place in Seville.
The Fair officially begins on Monday at midnight, usually 2 weeks after Semana Santa (Holy Week), and ends with a big fireworks display the following Sunday at midnight.
This year the festival will begin on 24 April(Tuesday) and end on 29 April, (Sunday) 2012
The Fair will be inaugurated with the night "pescaito" on Monday April 23 at 12:00 am,marking the official start of the 165th edition of the Feria de Abril in Seville when thousands of lamps are lit to illuminate the street door and the enclosure. On this special night about 350,000 light bulbs will be lit.
Eating and drinking is one of the main pleasures enjoyed by all visitors to the Fair. All houses and lots of stalls, offering a wide range of dishes that allow the public to satisfy their hunger or thirst at any time of day.
The beginning of the April Fair dates back to 1846, whose birth was decreed by Queen Elizabeth. At first, like most fairs, the fair begins as a cattle market that lasted about three days. Though it began as a commercial event, over the years, the city of has transformed the event as an expression of song and dance in Seville, fun, joy, color, our spring party for six days of the April Fair in Seville.
