An update & future plans

Current Situation

Things haven’t been too easy recently, so I have been taking some time out to focus on myself and what is important in my life. Not to worry though, I have certainly not abandoned this blog or my website! When I am feeling a bit better again, I plan to get out there once more and restart my adventures, however big or small these may turn out to be. Things may be starting up a bit slower this half of the year, but I expect to be up and at ’em by the second half.

Plans & Ideas

There are several ideas of places to go and things to do occupying my mind at the moment. For example, I have been researching a lot into cross country rail journeys in Canada and the US through the VIA Rail Canada and Amtrack services (Toronto to Vancouver on a sleeper train sounds amazing to me!) I really think that this could be the trip of a lifetime for me, and something that if I can muster up the courage for (to go it alone), will give me some amazing memories for years to come.

Closer to home, I am still considering trips to Seville and the Swiss Alps. Prague is also there in the top 5, however; I cannot do all of these excursions in 2024 alone, so some decisions will need to be made! Right now, I am thinking perhaps Seville in spring, whilst the weather is still pleasant and not too hot, and the Swiss Alps in summer, where the nature will truly be alive and at its best. Prague may or may not happen this year, time and funds permitting.

Going Local

Further to these potential plans and perhaps in the shorter-term, I would like to publish a blog post or two about my local area, where I live, to give my international readers some insight into my little area of the UK. I have been putting this piece off as, unfortunately, the weather has been less than ideal, it currently being the British winter. This means that most days have been dull, rainy and dark – I cannot take the photos that I would like to in order to do this place justice! Once the weather is a bit nicer, this will be top of my agenda.

I am also open to suggestions from my readers of things that you would like to see/read about regarding the UK – what do you usually love hearing or seeing about the UK, and what tempts you to pay a visit?

Looking Ahead

For now, anything big will need to wait, while I get myself back on track. I am not intending to rush into anything or to push myself too hard (I can have a bad habit of doing both these things, so I am trying to hold myself back!), so that I can be completely refreshed and ready for what comes next. I am grateful to have many fantastic travel memories behind me, which are serving well to make me feel a bit better each day and re-gain some of my motivation back.

As mentioned, I am open to suggestions for both what my readers would like to see more of, and suggestions relating to my current plans. Drop me a comment or a message as I would love to chat! For now, onwards and upwards…

A brighter winter day in the back garden
